Accessories
What's Harry without a scar, Oliver Wood without a broom, and (Merlin Forbid!)
Hermione without a book? Here you'll find the little bits and pieces to really
make your costume complete. All are optional pieces, but really do add a
little bit extra to your characters! Also, you must take into account what particular time and style of costume you are making. If you plan on making a Harry costume, will it be a school uniform or a Quidditch Uniform? Will it be from the PS/CoS look or the PoA/GoF look? All of these things would affect what accessories you would need. Think of anything else that could be
added to a character? Or another way to make a certain piece? Please let
me know!

Books - Books for student use can be easily made, or even found. If you search Amazon.com, you can find books that actually deal with potions, ancient runes, and astronomy. However, many people may not want to be quite SO realistic in their costumes, so creating a book that looks old, used, and focuses on these topics might be your best bet.
Journals - Ginny had Tom's old diary in CoS. Other students also have notebooks and diaries of sorts for them to write in. Finding a leather bound book with blank pages works perfect for this. Check out Barnes and Noble or Borders for some great ones that have an old antique feel to them.
Quills and Ink - One of my favourite things is writing with a quill and ink. You can either create your own quill by glueing a calligraphy nib to a feather and wrapping it with leater, or you can find already made quills. Stores like Barnes and Noble, Borders, and many little specialty shops sell these now. Medieval Fairres also often offer quills. If you'd like to write with a quill, yet don't want to mess with the ink aspect of it, you can simply pull out the ink part of a ball point pen and insert it up into the shaft of the feather. This makes a really easy 'Self Inking Quill'! Ink can be found at the same locations, or craft stores. I love that you can find ink in any colour now. (My favourite is a deep scarlet red!)

Gryffindor/Lion Accessories
Captain, Prefect, and Head Boy/Girl Badges - There are many different styles of these that can be found online. I've ordered them directly from the manufacture myself, while you can also find similar ones on Ebay and through costuming groups. They come in all shapes, sizes and the four house colours. The book claims that the Prefect Badge has a large letter 'P' on it. These can be created by ordering the single initial badge. (pictures coming soon)
Umbrella - In PoA, during the rainey Quidditch match, we get a quick glimpse of house specific umbrellas. These are EXTREMELY rare and hard to find. I was lucky enough to manage to buy an official WB Gryffindor Umbrella on Ebay a few years ago. Since then, I haven't seen one. These can be duplicated fairly easy. All you need is an umbrella of the appropriate colour, for Gryffindor you would want Maroon or a dark red. Then take some dark gold ribbon and hot glue or stitch it in two parallell stripes all the way around the edge of the umbrella. If you have any question about where to put them, look at THIS picture. To make it even more Gryffindor like, feel free to try your hand at paiting a dark gold Gryffindor shield, 'G', a lion, or whatever you feel would best show Gryffindor on certain panels.
Cufflinks - Cufflinks can be found on Ebay, among other places, in many different styles and fashions. You can even find Hogwarts and House Specific cufflinks for your uniform.
Jewelry - House specific jewelry can be found on ebay, among other places. The Noble Collection offers rings for the houses, and other Harry Potter related jewelry.

Camera - Find an old fashioned camera, with an extra large flash. These are often easy to find at antique stores. If those can't be found, a normal camera that has a neck strap will work just as well. Hang it around your neck for a very Colin style. Almost everyone will know who you are!
