Uniforms Basics

Skirts/Trousers

As everything else about the Uniforms in PoA, the basics have changed as well! The trousers and skirts have become much darker grey, almost appearing to be black. I do believe that they are actually a dark charcoal grey. The girls skirts style has also changed. Hermione can be seen in a picture wearing a skirt with a large pleat up one side. The closest thing we've found to that particular skirt is a Box-Pleat (or Kick Pleat) skirt. The real style of skirt is unknown at the moment. It looks to only have one pleat (on the front, left hand side) that goes all the way up to the waist line), while the box-pleated skirts have two on the front, and two on the back, which only go up to the hips. If anyone knows For CERTAIN what kind of skirt Hermione is wearing, please let us know!

These can easily be found at any School Uniform Supplier. Many times there are shops in your area that will carry just what you need. Here, however, the schools don't wear gray, but navy blue. So I had to result in special ordering my skirt. You can also search on the internet through search engines like Google.com. There are millions of places to find the right uniform bottoms. The skirts can range anywhere from $10 to above $50. I found my PoA Skirt at Buckhead, and it is very well made and comfortable.

Shirts

Shirts for the PoA Hogwarts Uniform have also changed! They are now a ivory colour shirt (instead of a bright white). You can find them at any school uniform suppliers, Wal-Mart, Target, and other such stores. If you have trouble finding an Ivory/Cream coloured shirt, I've heard you can stain a plain white one with Tea. (Although I have never done this myself.) Remember, the shirts should be a plain button down, long sleeved shirt with a collar!

Shoes and Socks

The only thing that changes uniform wise between CoS and PoA, is the girls socks. In the third movie, they are seen wearing dark (black) stockings or tights. Other than that, the shoes for both boys and girls have stayed the same! Shoes are simple for the boys. All you need are a normal pair of black shoes, preferably loafers of dress shoes of sorts. You don't want to use black tennis shoes. Pair them with a pair of black or dark grey socks, and you'll be set.

Girls' shoes are a bit harder. The Hogwarts Uniform calls for Girls to wear a black pair of Mary Jane's. Basically, a dress shoe with an open top and buckle over it. They go in and out of style, but can almost ALWAYS be found for little girls. Those of us who are... "older" have more of a problem. Occassionally, you will find Mary Janes offered in the Women's Sizes. Just search local shoe stores (I just recently found THE PERFECT PAIR at Payless!), or try a search on the internet. If you still can't find a pair, try taking a normal pair of black pumps, attach a black ribbon to the insides where the straps on Mary Janes would be found. And Voila! You have instant imitation Mary Janes.
